SA Baby Spa

Overview

Here are our Baby Spa’s services, fees, and staff.

While Sinu Arst Babyspa has been referred to as a cozy and playful “spa for babies,” as only 3 babies can participate in each therapy, its main focus is to expose babies to the benefits of water therapy.

Some of the benefits of having your baby unwind in a warm water bath include increased muscular and skeletal power, strengthened respiratory system and increased cognitive development, among others. The full-body massage can help stimulate a baby’s immune system and alleviate digestive issues.

Our health services team is here to help support you to raise a healthy and balanced child.

Water therapy is a relatively new concept where the babies are made to float in the water with adequate support on the neck and head. During each session, infants wear a specially desinged, patented floation device around their necks which enables the baby to move freely their limbs in the water. Thus, your baby can independently learn new body movements and the instructor is there to help and assist the parent in order to develop the potentials in this small body.

The warm water renders a soothing effect on their body and helps in the enhancement of all vital bodily functions. The inherent effects of water therapy include:

  • The gentle resistance that the baby experiences in the water help to strengthen their bones and muscles.
  • Water therapy helps infants with their balance and coordination. Additionally, babies who are introduced to water therapy early in their lives, are in an advantageous place in their life in both mental and physical capacities.
  • Water decreases the effect of gravity on the circulatory system of the baby, ensuring ample vascular return to the heart.
  • The pressure of water on the chest of the baby expands lung capacity and enhances the breathing ability of the baby.
  • Water therapy for babies improves digestion and helps appropriate absorption of nutrients, thus regulating their digestive system.
  • Water passing over the skin creates a tactile stimulation, thus boosting the capability of the central nervous system of the baby.

The water helps babies utilize their entire bodies almost from day one after birth, which is extremely beneficial due to the lack of independent physical movement before they begin crawling.  Therefore water therapy is best suited for babies aged 1 week to 6 months, however babies who have started therapy at the age of 0-6 months can continue with water therapy even after reaching 6 months.

At the age of 0-3 months, each baby bathes in an individual water tub, which avoids the risk of infection after birth.

At the age of 3-6 months, babies continue to swim in the shared pool. It’s time to learn new skills, socialize and float together with new friends.

We recommend participating in water therapy on a regular basis, because for babies the repetition helps the best to develop their motor skills memory.

The special two-part session is best suited for babies aged 1 week to 6 months, however babies who have started therapy at the age of 0-6 months can continue with water therapy even after reaching 6 months.

The water helps babies utilize their entire bodies almost from day one after birth, which is extremely beneficial due to the lack of independent physical movement before they begin crawling.

Every session includes instructor-led neonatal touch and activity training and 10-20 minute water float therapy session.

During touch and activity training the instructor will teach the parent how to support the development of the baby, including touching and petting. Also, she will demonstrate age-appropriate techniques considering your baby’s mood and activity need.

During each float session, infants wear a specially desinged, patented floation device around their necks which enables the baby to move freely in the water without influence from gravity. Thus, your baby can independently learn new body movements and the instructor is there to help and assist the parent in order to develop the potentials in this small body.

Therapeutic water therapy is intended for babies who have problems with muscle tone, i.e., their muscles are either tense or of a weaker type. Usually, the baby’s family doctor or physiotherapist will recommend starting with the therapy to improve muscle tone or asymmetries in head and body positions according to the baby’s individual needs: in some cases, weak muscles need to be stimulated, in other cases, hypertensive muscles need to be relaxed.

Water and special techniques help relax tense muscles, stimulate weak muscles and develop the child’s body awareness and use. Therapeutic water therapy is also beneficial for gas problems, as gas is often caused by strained smooth muscle in the intestines.

No assistive devices are used during the session. The specially trained therapist makes different movements with the baby in the water and takes different positions and, most importantly, encourages the baby to move on its own. Sometimes it is uncomfortable for the baby, but in order to have a therapeutic effect, the baby must be encouraged to exceed the comfort limit in the water.

The goal of therapeutic water therapy is always the best possible development of the baby!

Babies up to 60cm and up to 6kg are welcome to the session. It is best if the baby has just woken up and at least 30 minutes have passed since feeding

A special emotional bond develops between a parent and baby during the first year, called the attachment bond. In order to strengthen the attachment bond, as much time as possible should be spent with the baby. The dad is just as important in the development of the baby as the mom. That’s why we have created “Daddy and Me” water therapy with touch and action, the main goal of which is to enable father and baby to go through the entire session together. Of course, the mom can also come to the session, in case the baby needs breastfeeding.

Every session includes instructor-led neonatal touch and activity training  and 10-20 minute water float therapy session.

During touch and activity training the instructor will teach the dad how to support the development of the baby, including touching and petting. Also, she will demonstrate age-appropriate techniques considering your baby’s mood and activity need.

During each float session, infants wear a specially desinged, patented floation device around their necks which enables the baby to move freely in the water without influence from gravity. Thus, your baby can independently learn new body movements and the instructor is there to help and assist the dad in order to develop the potentials in this small body.

Family lesson is an inspiring and wonderful experience for mom and/or dad to go to the pool with the baby (twins). As an alternative to being in the water with peers, the baby can experience bonding and swimming with parents (grandparents or siblings). Although the session is baby focused, progressive and fun, the parents will learn and play with the baby under the guidance of an instructor.

You do this by:

  • Reading cues and “listening” to your baby: every baby displays a set of facial expressions and body movements to communicate feelings. Learning about and listening to this unique language ensures babies remain relaxed and happy in the water.
  • Adopting a gentle approach: remaining focused on the parent-child relationship and working to enhance bonding and attachment.
  • Working at the baby’s pace: promoting freedom in the water at the right time enables confidence to flourish.
  • Repetition: Repetition of activities enables learning; every week the sessions repeat previously learned skills and also add new ones.
  • Giving attention to each of the four main milestones of development: Rolling, sitting, standing and walking. Each developmental stage offers a unique window of opportunity in the water-based environment and is characterised by certain reflexes. Working with these reflexes enhances baby development.
  • Having fun!!!

The private spa time allows the family to create a personal combination of water therapy and a massage program.

Please be noted that Baby Spa does not offer a shower option for parents.
